Previously a Head Teacher of all-age boarding and day schools in both the maintained and independent sectors, Bill is Chairman of The Education Partnership, which has for the past fourteen years supported schools, colleges and outdoor education/activity centres.

Bill works with colleagues, employers (Proprietors, Trustees and Governors), Head Teachers and Bursars towards:

• preparing applications by schools to the DfE for material changes;
• completing the SIEF or SEF;
• preparing for inspections and the follow-up actions required by Ofsted (S162A), ISI, and National Minimum Standards for Boarding Schools;
• managing their schools and outdoor education/activity centres in a more effective, efficient and economic way;
• developing the business and strengthening improving profitability by enhancing revenues and controlling costs;
• maximising the use of existing resources, including premises, to the best advantage of the business;
• preparing and implementing day-to-day working practices (including policies, procedures and handbooks) that ensure compliance with regulations and best practice (including education, the duty of care, safeguarding including safer recruitment, employment, and health and safety);
• advising on best practice for learning outside the classroom including educational visits, the responsibilities of providers, employees, employers, EVC and LOtC training;
• advising on specific learning difficulties including dyslexia, dyspraxia and dyscalculia;
• merging and opening new schools, including faith schools, and avoiding the closure of others, saving to date in excess of one thousand jobs;
• preparing schools for material changes;
• drawing up personnel specifications and effective interview strategies;
• selecting and appraising head teachers, bursars and senior managers;
• carrying out special needs audits;
• managing change, people, performance, policy, development, systems and process.

Bill’s personal interests include music, magic and mountains frequently interspersed with regular visits to tea shops. He is also a member of the Magic Circle and the International Brotherhood of Magicians.
