paulherbertfire-resized.bmpPaul Herbert is the founder and director of Edge Media, a company specialising in devising and implementing integrated communications strategies for schools. Paul was also previously the General Secretary of the Society of Education Consultants. A former newspaper journalist, Paul works with his wife, Jan, a former BBC and HTV senior broadcast journalist, and other Edge Media staff to deliver a number of services to schools. These services include:

  • communications and marketing advice, including crisis management;
  • media relations delivery – writing and issuing press releases etc.;
  • website design;
  • ongoing provision of website content;
  • graphic design, including corporate image/branding;
  • colour newsletters reflecting the school’s marketing objectives;
  • design and delivery of other marketing literature, including prospectuses;
  • copy-writing;
  • assessment of admissions procedures and help with implementation of improvements.

Paul has several long-term school clients with whom he works on a monthly retainer basis. He also undertakes project-based work. This can range from copy-writing for a new school website to the provision of an ‘emergency’ website and prospectus within one month for a school facing an unexpected inspection. His clients include: well-known HMC schools; small, privately owned schools and schools in the maintained sector.
